it is all about timing

With the Microsoft and Novell "agreement" still making noise, I foresee somewhat of a community backlash against Novell. In my mind, this puts Mono into a new light. Was mono a part of the agreement between N and M? Questions. Questions. I certainly won't be using Mono, or any Mono apps.

Interestingly, just as all this is happening, Sun blows the doors off and GPL's Java. What timing! I think Sun saw an opportune moment, and pounced. I am not a fan of Java myself, but this seems like an excellent time for Sun to do this.

I guess a few months down the road, we will get more information about the N and M deal, and see how things shake out. I can't help but feel a bit saddened by it though...
