Back in October of '07, I posted that I had gotten a macbook, and talked about some apps that made life bearable on the mac. Well, it turned out it didn't last long. I got fed up with the mac, and after forcing myself to use it for two months, decided to move on.

Near the end of the first month, I was already done, but I can be stubborn. I wanted to make sure I really disliked it and that it wasn't just me "not being used to how macs are different" (as a mac person once told me). That's right. Its not apple's fault, its yours...anyway...

Another month went by, and things didn't improve. The same stuff was still pissing me off and driving me nuts. Sure, some things were good, but the things that were not good, really chapped my caboose.

In addition, I ended up using my laptop at my desk at home ALOT. I didn't do a whole lot of wandering around. So I bought a super cheap dell desktop. How cheap? $300 cheap. It was an x-mas special of some kind. An inspiron 731s (with VT extensions even). I got a snazzy nice 20" LCD, and was still AMAZINGLY under budget compared to what I paid for the macbook. Anyway, I slapped Linux on the new box, and it was like reclining on a happy chair in awesome-pants-ville.

I ended up giving the macbook to my wife. She loves it. Everyone wins I guess.
